This position will work collaboratively with NOAA and UW scientists to optimize and apply genetic tools for the assessment of marine fish and mammal populations. The position will require the use of a wide range of molecular genetic techniques including Sanger sequencing, single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) genotyping, preparation of libraries for next-generation sequencing and qPCR. Some data summary and bioinformatic data processing will be involved, with opportunities to contribute to reports and manuscripts. Maintaining an inventory of archived biological samples and generated data (and metadata) will require strong organizational skills, familiarity with relational databases and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a diverse team.
