Assistant Dive Safety Officer and Kelp Rescue Initiative Dive Coordinator

Responsible for support and continued development of the WCUMSS Scientific Diving Program and ensures all diving activities conducted under WCUMSS are in compliance with the WCUMSS Diving Policy, the governing regulations of the Canadian Association for Underwater Sciences (CAUS), the Worker Compensation Board of British Columbia (WCB), Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S), and the Canadian Standards Association (CSA). This is a full time position for 37.5 hours per week. The funding for this position is provided from Departments of Fisheries and Oceans, Aquatic Ecosystem and Restoration Fund in conjunction with the Kelp Rescue Initiative (KRI), a WCUMSS research program. The Assistant DSO will work closely with the BMSC DSO. Travel to other field sites and working some weekends will be required.
