US National Marine Sanctuaries: Sentinel Sites for Social-Ecological Systems in a Changing Ocean

Join the Ocean Decade Collaborative Center for the Northeast Pacific, NOAA’s Office of National Marine Sanctuaries, and the UN Decade of Ocean Science Endorsed Programme MPAs as Sentinels in a Changing Ocean in a conversation about how we can best learn from and understand marine protected areas, their roles in protecting marine environment from ecological, cultural and socioeconomic perspectives and the benefits they provide to coastal communities.

We are thrilled to welcome the following expert speakers:

  • Gonzalo Cid, International Activities Coordinator, National Marine Protected Areas Center & NOAA - Office of National Marine Sanctuaries and UNDOS Programme MPAs as Sentinels in a Changing Ocean

  • Danielle Schwarzmann, Chief Economist NOAA- Office of National Marine Sanctuaries

  • Maria Brown, Superintendent for Greater Farallones and Cordell Bank National Marine Sanctuaries, NOAA- Office of National Marine Sanctuaries

. Early Career Ocean Professionals (ECOPs) were invited to stay online after the end of the session at 1pm to discuss , debrief and exchange ideas with the invited speaker(s) in a focused session led by NOAA researcher and ECOP Devin Burri.
