Project Coordinator
Based in Vancouver, BC, Kate is a project coordinator on the DCC team, leading communications and connection with Decade Actions active in the region.
Growing up on BC’s Sunshine Coast gave Kate an early passion for the intertidal and an understanding of community demands on marine resources. Since then she has blended her undergraduate studies in biology at the University of Victoria and Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre with 20 years experience in both formal and informal education, including 15 years developing, managing and promoting education and outreach programs at Vancouver’s science centre, Science World. Directly before joining the DCC, Kate led a team of educators in a multi-year federally-funded project to ensure that students and teachers across British Columbia were equipped to integrate coding across the curriculum.
Kate is excited about the potential of the Ocean Decade to catalyze action, create impact and involve community members of all ages.
